Since its founding by Leo Fender, Fender has been a driving force in the music industry for over 70 years. The Precision Bass, released in 1951, revolutionized the Bass world by delivering precise intonation and high volume through amplifiers—a marked improvement over the acoustic Basses of the time. At its core lies the philosophy of “listening to the player,” and the company continues to innovate from the musician’s perspective—with features like tuning-friendly peg placement and bolt-on necks that are easy to repair or replace.

The biggest reason Fender continues to be loved is its “versatility.”The versatility of the Stratocaster, the power of the Telecaster—each model’s distinct character enables a wide range of musical expression. Additionally, based on the philosophy of “listening to the player,” its ergonomic design and exceptional playability are major draws. Furthermore, as exemplified by the official “Mod Shop” service, the ability to carefully select parts and build a one-of-a-kind instrument—this “customizability”—also captivates fans.

Fender boasts a wealth of legendary instruments. The Stratocaster, in particular, is a versatile model capable of handling everything from rock to jazz, with a wide range of tones—from delicate and bright to sweet and mellow. The Telecaster is known for its powerful sound, while the Jazzmaster and Jaguar are characterized by their distinctive offset bodies and unique tones. Additionally, the Precision Bass, introduced in 1951, was the world’s first electric bass and had an immense influence on the music scene that followed.

“Diversity”—Fender’s greatest strength—is the key to choosing a guitar. If this is your first guitar, we recommend the versatile Stratocaster, which handles a wide range of genres from rock to jazz. Another option is to choose a powerful Telecaster or a distinctive Jazzmaster to match the music you want to express. If you’re looking for something even more unique, the used market is full of models with specifications not found in current production lines, as well as instruments that have been attractively customized by previous owners. Discovering your ultimate guitar among these “one-of-a-kind” pieces is one of the greatest joys of shopping for used instruments.
