Mochizuki

Terry Nakamoto.
He is an indispensable figure when discussing the history of Japanese-made acoustic guitars, and when you actually pick up one of his guitars and play it, you will naturally understand why so many people call it "the pinnacle of Japanese-made guitars."
There was a time when guitars from overseas brands dominated the stage.
Amidst all this, Nakamoto personally visited numerous concert venues of various artists, relentlessly searching for what kind of sound musicians performing on the front lines truly desired.
Rather than simply offering existing models, their approach is to "shape the sound that the performer desires." This sincere pursuit eventually established a culture of custom-made guitars in Japan and earned them immense trust from top musicians both domestically and internationally. And to this day, they continue to captivate many acoustic guitar fans.

The history and appeal of Terry's Terry

This book chronicles the journey of the brand, which was created by Terry Nakamoto, the legendary guitar designer who supported the development of Yamaha's masterpieces, as he pursued his ideals to the extreme.
We'll unravel the secrets behind the unique sound that has captivated so many professionals.

History | Tracing a Great History | From its Founding to the Present

It is undoubtedly Terry Nakamoto who established the concept of the "highest quality custom-made guitars made in Japan" that we hold in our hands today. His journey is nothing less than a history of challenge and dialogue, which has continuously supported the Japanese music scene from behind the scenes. In the past, it was still overseas brands such as Martin and Gibson that sat at the center of the glamorous stage. While at Yamaha, he explored new guitars based on the voices of studio musicians, but he realized that this alone would not change the world. He began to visit the dressing rooms of concert venues himself and listen to the desires of the frontmen.
The solution they arrived at was a groundbreaking shift at the time: a custom order system that "shapes the sound that the artist desires."

"Existing models lack the impact to capture their attention."
With that in mind, he later released...These were four concept models, known as the "Four Heavenly Kings of L," each with completely different sounds and designs. His incredible drive was evident in his tireless travels across the country, personally carrying several samples and carefully considering the preferences of each artist. His sincere personality, which allowed him to thoroughly listen to the voices of those on the ground, was what ultimately earned him the immense trust of iconic artists of the era, such as Shozo Ise, Masashi Sada, Chiharu Matsuyama, and Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi.

Founded in 1990 to pursue his ideals to the extreme,Terry's Terry To connect that design philosophy to more playersPremium Terry And born from the bond with his close friend, Kounosuke Sakazaki, was the combat machine "TSK”
If he hadn't existed, the history of acoustic guitars in Japan would probably be completely different.
