Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much does it generally cost to repair or adjust a Bass guitar?
Please check the repair pricing page for the Bass guitar for details. We will provide a free estimate after inspecting the actual instrument.

Q. How long does a repair take (turnaround time)?
A: Even for minor repairs or part replacements, we generally need to keep the instrument for a short period to thoroughly assess its condition before proceeding. It will take at least a few days, but if you have a specific schedule in mind, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please purchase a repair ticket or contact us via chat in advance to discuss your requirements.
For major repairs involving fret replacement or refinishing, please allow approximately 2 weeks to 1 month. If you are in a hurry due to a live performance, recording, or other commitments, please contact us via chat or other means in advance.

Q. Can you repair instruments purchased at other stores or older vintage instruments?
A: Yes, of course!
At TCGAKKI, we handle a wide range of instruments, including those purchased elsewhere, imported models, vintage instruments, and even those of unknown origin.
Thanks to our repair staff—who have supported TCGAKKI (Kubokan) for over 35 years of experience with various instruments—we can handle each instrument individually, regardless of its condition or history. Please feel free to entrust us with any instrument you have.

Q. If the repair costs seem high, I’m unsure whether I should have it repaired or just buy a new one.
A: While it is our joy to restore your cherished instrument, there are times when repair costs exceed the instrument’s current market value.
In such cases, instead of repairing it, you can trade it in and “upgrade” to a new instrument from our used inventory.

TCGAKKI: Even if your instrument was purchased elsewhere, we’ll increase the trade-in value by 10% when you choose to upgrade.

Q. I live far away. Do you accept repairs by mail?
A: Yes, we accept repairs via mail or courier.
To ensure the same level of precision and explanation as an in-person visit, we proceed by carefully confirming the symptoms and your preferences.
Please start by discussing the issue via chat.
We will also provide clear instructions on how to pack your item and the shipping process.

Q. Can I request "regular maintenance" or "adjustments" even if the device isn't broken?
A: Yes, please feel free to request these services.
Even just a neck adjustment or string height setup during seasonal changes can make your instrument surprisingly easier to play.
By having us check the condition of your instrument regularly, we can address issues before they develop into major repairs, which often results in lower costs for you.
Even if you’re just feeling a slight discomfort, such as thinking, “It’s been a little harder to play lately,” that’s perfectly fine. Please feel free to bring it in.

Q. Can I consult with you about “customizations” such as pickup replacement or wiring modifications?
A: Yes, we’d be delighted to help. Our expert staff will carefully address requests such as “I want to get closer to my ideal sound” or “I want to customize it to my own specifications.”
We can handle a wide range of projects, from pickup replacements, circuit upgrades, and tuning peg replacements to large-scale modifications involving woodworking.
We have a wide selection of replacement parts in stock at our store, so you can plan your project while looking at the actual items.
