Brands We Buy
Martin Committee
Purchase Price
250,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"This was a unit purchased at our store several years ago. We gave it the highest possible evaluation based on the rising market value of vintage items and the fact that it was the same unit sold via Okubo Gakki. We repurchased it at 80% of the original sales price."

Brand
Roy Lawler
Purchase Price
190,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"Niche manufacturers are right up Okubo Gakki's alley. This is a brand known only to connoisseurs, and the instrument has tremendous potential. However, since many music stores lack sales history with this brand, they find it difficult to assess its value and are reluctant to offer competitive buyback prices. At our store, though, it’s one of our regular brands. The customer was very satisfied with the buyback price."
June 20, 2025
Brand
Lotus Lead/Solo
Purchase Price
360,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"This vehicle was originally purchased through Okubo Gakki. The customer approached us about trading it in, not because they were dissatisfied with it, but because they had fallen in love with the charm of the Lotus they had purchased and wanted to upgrade. We accepted it as a trade-in for a Lotus Classic."
February 17, 2025
Brand
Benchmark YB/22Pipe
Purchase Price
220,000 yen
Staff Comment
"This is a unique trumpet crafted in a small American workshop, featuring meticulous attention to detail that appeals to enthusiasts. With limited production and few units imported into Japan, it is highly rare; however, most retailers in Japan have never carried this model. Since this is a brand we have sold frequently at Okubo Gakki, we are able to offer a price that will satisfy you."
January 5, 2025
Brand
S.E. Shires CVLA-ML
Purchase Price
245,000 yen
Staff Comment
"While this brand first made a name for itself with its trombones, its trumpets have also earned high praise and popularity. This particular model is designed for use in big bands and similar settings. Since many of our customers are active in the popular and jazz music scenes, we were able to offer a high appraisal price for this instrument."
July 30, 2024
Brand
Stomvi Master Piccolo
Purchase Price
250,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"Specialized instruments like the piccolo trumpet tend to be taken out of their cases less frequently once concert seasons end. The seller had stored this instrument for over 10 years but, having no opportunity to use it, decided to consider selling it. They consulted with our store. Since it had been a long time since they last took it out, there were some parts that didn’t move, discoloration of the plating, and the loss of the included bell; however, we purchased it at the full appraised value."
March 4, 2025
Brand
Vincent Bach Artisan ADE190 GL
Purchase Price
430,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"Since E♭/D trumpets are rarely used, many people simply put them back in their cases after a performance, and this client was no exception. They thought, 'Since I rarely use it, will it be hard to sell?' But the opposite is true. Precisely because they are rarely used, there is high demand for them on the secondhand market, so we were able to purchase it at a price far exceeding the client’s expectations."
April 4, 2024
Brand
Kühn T053C/GP C-tube Trumpet
Purchase Price
490,000 yen
Agent's Comment
"Purchased about 25 years ago. After leaving the orchestra I belonged to, I no longer had a chance to use it, and it had been stored in its case for nearly 10 years. Although there was discoloration on the plating and some issues with the moving parts, considering the current surge in prices for rotary trumpets, we purchased it at a price higher than our initial estimated valuation."
Customer Testimonials
Testimonials from Actual Customers
Mr. N, Tokyo
"I was thinking of selling it on an online auction, but it needed cleaning and maintenance to get a good price. I was worried about the repair costs and time involved, so I requested an appraisal—and the offer was higher than I expected. I’m glad I consulted with you."

THEIN Trumpet
Purchase Price
420,000 yen
Mr. K, Kanagawa Prefecture
"I requested appraisals from several places, but when I told them my desired price, they responded that they could only offer consignment. I was about to give up because I needed a large sum of money urgently, but they gave me an appraisal price that was almost exactly what I wanted, and I confirmed the payment the very next day. You really helped me out."
Item Purchased
Monette Trumpet
Purchase Price
900,000 yen
Mr. O, Osaka Prefecture
"Everywhere I took it, people told me it was rare, but the offers were far below my asking price. I was disappointed, thinking that instruments that are too niche just aren’t suitable for resale. When I had a chance to visit Tokyo, I contacted several music stores in the city. I took it to Okubo Gakki, which offered a valuation estimate that stood head and shoulders above the rest. I was surprised by the final offer, which was roughly the same as the estimated price plus my travel expenses. It was definitely worth the trip from so far away."
Items Sold
Marcinkiewicz Rembrandt Flugelhorn
Purchase Price
350,000 yen
Mr. Y, Okayama Prefecture
"Since the instrument was over 40 years old and in poor condition, and because Marcinkiewicz is a relatively obscure manufacturer of rotary trumpets, local and Kansai-area music stores told me they couldn’t buy it. I used the quick estimate feature on your website to inquire, and they said they could buy it and wouldn’t charge me for shipping, so I sent it in. They purchased it at the estimated price I was given beforehand."

Frequently Asked Questions About Trumpets
Questions We Often Receive
Q1. My trumpet is old and has scratches, dents, and peeling plating. Can you still buy it?
A1. Yes, we can buy it. Even if it has scratches or dents, depending on the model, you can still expect a high buyback price. Before giving up, please consult our expert staff first.
Q2. Can you buy it even if I don’t have the case or the original mouthpiece?
A2. Yes, we are happy to buy the instrument even if it’s just the body. However, the appraisal value will increase if you have the original case, mouthpiece, or certificate of authenticity, so please bring them along if you have them.
Q3. Is it okay if the pistons are stuck and won’t move, or if the slides won’t come out?
A3. Yes, we can still buy it without any issues. We base our appraisal on the premise of repair, so please do not attempt to fix it yourself; simply bring it to us in its current condition.
Q4. I don’t know the manufacturer’s name or the exact model name (model number)...
A4. Please rest assured. Our expert staff will identify the model based on the markings and shape. We can provide a preliminary estimate just by receiving a photo of the instrument, so please feel free to contact us.
Q5. Are there any tips for getting the highest possible price?
A5. Giving the instrument a light wipe to clean it up creates a good impression. Also, including all accessories or selling it together with other instruments or unwanted mutes can help increase the appraisal value.
Q6. Is the appraisal free?
A6. Yes, appraisals are completely free. You may cancel after the appraisal.
Q7. Do you buy older instruments?
A7. We buy instruments regardless of their age, as long as they are in good condition.
Q8. Can you buy my instrument even if it doesn’t have any accessories?
A8. We can purchase instruments even without accessories, but this may affect the appraisal value.
Q9. What areas do you cover for in-home appraisals?
A9. We primarily serve the Kanto region, but depending on the situation, we can travel as far as Hokkaido, Okinawa, and even overseas. There is no charge for the home visit.
Q10. What are the maximum and minimum purchase prices?
A10. Please send us the details and photos of the instrument in advance, and we can provide a rough estimate.
Q11. Can you take it even if it’s broken (even for 0 yen)?
A11. Please provide details about the instrument, and we will let you know if we can take it.
Q12: Do I need to make a reservation?
A12: No, it is not necessary. You are welcome to visit anytime during business hours.
