—A bell-like tone reminiscent of crystal glass clinking
In my quest for the ultimate acoustic guitar, I’ve played countless legendary instruments. Yet I still haven’t found anything that surpasses the rich, resonant, and profound tone of that legendary Brazilian rosewood… Do you, too, harbor that endless longing?
Every guitar enthusiast can surely relate to that feeling. Since the 1992 Washington Convention (CITES) strictly regulated the commercial trade of Brazilian rosewood, instruments crafted from truly high-quality Jacaranda have vanished from the market and have now become a “phantom.” Many of you have likely begun to give up on the dream of owning a genuine D-45 Jacaranda model “at least once in a lifetime,” believing it to be an impossible dream.
However, the “miracle instrument” that puts an end to that quest exists right here. It is this “1998 Martin CTM D-45 Brazilian Rosewood.”
Beginning with a custom order from Gene Autry in 1933, the D-45 has continued to reign as Martin’s flagship model. This instrument is a supreme custom model crafted in 1998—an era following the implementation of the Washington Convention regulations—using precious old-stock Brazilian rosewood that Martin had strictly preserved and specially released for this project, employing it generously in its construction.
It features the finest, meticulously selected Ingleman spruce, paired with Brazilian rosewood sides and back that boast a seductive, jet-black, exquisite grain. Exquisite abalone inlays, crafted by skilled artisans, radiate a dazzling brilliance across the entire body. With a single strum, overwhelming bass tones that resonate like the earth itself intertwine in layers with high notes that ring like crystal glass clinking, enveloping the player in a blissful acoustic space. Having passed approximately a quarter-century since its manufacture, the wood has dried and aged to perfection, already achieving a supreme vintage tone that can never be experienced with a New instrument.
The Brazilian rosewood secured by Martin before the trade restrictions went into effect is now virtually depleted, making it practically impossible to order a Custom Shop guitar with equivalent specifications today. In other words, this instrument is a one-of-a-kind “historical treasure,” and there is no doubt that its value will continue to rise in the future. At present, no one can guarantee when another instrument of this caliber will next appear on the market.
Why not turn your “someday” dream into reality right now? The ultimate Martin D-45—a guitar so exceptional that even the phrase “a lifetime instrument” feels like an understatement.
