This was the top-of-the-line model from Yamaha, a company that Japan is proud of, at the time.

The top is made of the finest Yezo spruce veneer.
The finely detailed and evenly spaced annual rings possess both delicacy and strength.
The sides and back are made of the finest quality Brazilian rosewood, a material that has now become rare.
Its sound, which is both hard and produces lustrous overtones, cannot be described simply as "a superior version of rosewood."
The deep, resonant bass retains its definition, while the three-dimensional mid-to-high frequencies blend seamlessly into the space while still retaining their core essence.
