This was the top-of-the-line model from Yamaha, a company that Japan is proud of, at the time. This instrument is a symbol of high-end Japanese craftsmanship, a culmination of the technology and passion of the time, and Yamaha's ambition to create an instrument that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's best.
The top is made of the finest Yezo spruce veneer. The finely detailed and evenly spaced annual rings possess both delicacy and strength. The sides and back are made of the finest quality Brazilian rosewood, a material that has now become rare. Its sound, which is both hard and produces lustrous overtones, cannot be described simply as "a superior version of rosewood."
The deep, resonant bass retains its definition, while the three-dimensional mid-to-high frequencies blend seamlessly into the space while still retaining their core essence. Each note is perfectly balanced, and the entire enclosure resonates naturally. There are few speakers that allow you to experience the feeling of sound "unified and expansive" so clearly. It makes you realize that the difference in class lies not in volume or flashiness, but in the density of the sound and the quality of the reverberation.
The ornamentation also speaks to the pride of this model. Meticulously crafted mother-of-pearl inlay, intricate purfling, and a dark ebony fingerboard and bridge. A presence that speaks of "authenticity" without being overly assertive.
The weight of time and effort that skilled craftsmen of that era poured into each and every piece, sparing no expense, is palpable in its creation.
From the day I got this guitar, my practice time transformed into a "dialogue." My heart is moved by a single chord, a single note in an arpeggio, and my very attitude towards music changes. Even just playing it in your living room at home should give the space the reverberation of a small hall.
