A 1964 Jazz Bass in pristine condition!
The Fender Jazz Bass debuted in 1960.
It has remained the standard for all bassists, and even now—more than 60 years after its inception—it continues to be used in its original form.
This instrument is often featured in reissue models and was built in 1964—a year that can be considered the golden age of the Fender Jazz Bass.
It is a masterpiece from the golden era toward the end of the pre-CBS period, when Fender was at the height of its glory and the passion and pride of its craftsmen were at their peak.
The neck date is “7JUN64A,” indicating a 1964 model. The pots are 1964 Stackpole models, and we believe the Circle D capacitors are also original. The instrument is equipped with gray-bobbin pickups. Although the pickup dates are illegible due to age, we believe they are original.The front pickup has been rewound in-house.
The sunburst finish has faded very little, and with only a few spots of paint peeling, this instrument remains in exceptionally good condition.
While it shows some wear and tear commensurate with its age, it comes with a rare original hard case. Furthermore, the pickup fence and bridge cover are still intact.
With its alder body and round-rosewood fingerboard, this instrument embodies the classic specifications that defined the “Jazz Bass.” After approximately
60 years, it remains a special vintage Bass that allows modern players to experience the “original essence of the Jazz Bass.” The moment you strum
the open 4th string, you’ll feel the swift low-end response—a characteristic unique to vintage Basses—right in your bones.
This instrument is not merely a collector’s item to be admired. Our in-house repair technician has set it up with a string action of 1.6 mm, ensuring a stress-free playing experience.
