Released in the late 1960s, this radical octave fuzz lets you switch between a bass-heavy, punchy tone and a slightly quirky sound with emphasized high-mids using the tone selector! Deadstock item!!
The controls include the "VOLUME" knob (which also serves as the power switch), the "FUZZ ADJ." knob for adjusting distortion, a tone selector footswitch, and a bypass footswitch. Even when the "FUZZ ADJ." is set to minimum, there is still significant distortion, and as you turn it up, the distortion increases while harmonics surge. The characteristic "beep-beep" and "zzz" distortion typical of Japanese fuzz pedals is enhanced by a melancholic upper octave, creating a lustrous and deep sound. When playing chords, the sound tends to get a bit muddy, but this results in a bold, powerful tone that really makes its presence known. The bright, punchy sound selectable via the tone selector produces an astonishing metallic quality. With its superb sound, this is truly a legendary Japanese fuzz pedal!
Believe it or not, this item is original deadstock that has survived over 50 years and was unearthed from the warehouse of a music store in Jakarta, Indonesia! While the finish shows some general dulling, the control plate is still shiny. Although it has some signs of wear, it comes with the rare original box (with tears—see image), instruction manual, and cable.
