The D-45 debuted as a regular model in 1938. This instrument is a reproduction of the original D-45. It possesses a distinct elegance and appearance different from the D-45 known today, so let's take a closer look.
ーPremium Top Wood
The top is crafted from Engelmann spruce, displaying a beautiful amber-like coloring. The fine, uniformly arranged grain is a pleasure to behold. The body binding uses ivoroid, while the purfling features abalone shell inlay.
The pickguard features an inlaid tortoiseshell pattern. It's noticeably thin enough to reveal the spruce's textured grain.
The sides and back are luxuriously crafted from rare Brazilian rosewood, its distinctive striped grain is mesmerizing. The binding and purfling, like the top, utilize ivoroid and abalone shell.
The fingerboard is ebony, featuring the snowflake inlay used around 1938. Alongside the ivoroid binding on the fingerboard sides, it also boasts abalone shell decoration. Since hexagon inlay became standard starting in 1939, the use of snowflake inlay on this instrument confirms it faithfully reproduces the appearance of D-45s from their debut era.
The neck is crafted from mahogany, featuring a soft V-shape with a comfortable thickness that fits the hand well.
The bridge is made of ebony, featuring snowflake inlays at the ends and a long saddle.
The rosewood veneer headstock features ivoroid cells adorned with abalone shell inlays, while the vertical logo adds a touch of elegance.
WAVERLY open-back tuners complete the authentic look.
Its pre-war D-45-like appearance and beautiful finish exude a charm distinct from other D-45s. Its tone is lively and brilliant, making it a guitar you'll want to play forever.
