Explanation
"I love vintage guitars, but I'm worried about their condition and how difficult they are to maintain." "The tone of a '60s Stratocaster is irresistible, but it's hard to find one that I can actually play regularly." Do you find yourself facing this dilemma?
We hear that desire to play the real thing on the ground as well. We want to support the feelings of guitarists who seek a vintage guitar they can pick up and play casually, rather than just a collector’s item to gaze at. This 1966 Stratocaster is the one that fulfills that wish.
In January 1965, Fender was sold to CBS, but Leo Fender continued to be involved in development as a consultant. This 1966 Stratocaster is a model born during that very transitional period; although it is from the CBS era, its specifications still strongly reflect Leo Fender’s philosophy. It features the transition logo, a thick headstock, a round-profiled rosewood fingerboard, and an ultra-thin lacquer finish that embodies the philosophy that “the thinner the finish, the better.” The sunburst finish, which has lost its reddish hue due to sun exposure and taken on a pale yellow tint, is a unique character created by time.
Unlike the grit and power of the early 1960s, offering a lighter, more airy tone. Its natural response is so appealing that you’ll want to play it for hours on end. The pickups feature gray bobbins, providing a pleasant clarity in the high frequencies, and while it comes with the original 3-way switch, upgrading to a 5-way switch brings out the charm of the half-tone even more. Even as is, this is a vintage guitar that’s a joy to play and will serve you well.
Early CBS Stratocasters from the transitional period feature specifications unique to that era, offering an exquisite blend of pre-CBS ambiance and CBS-era characteristics. Highly original examples are becoming increasingly scarce, and it is extremely rare for one to appear on the market in this condition.
A 1966 Stratocaster that exudes vintage character while offering the peace of mind to play it daily. Please experience its light and resonant tone for yourself. This is a guitar we wholeheartedly recommend to both collectors and players alike.
