Explanation
Do you find yourself in a dilemma like this: "I admire vintage guitars, but I'm worried about their condition and how difficult they are to handle," or "The tone of a '60s Stratocaster is appealing, but it's hard to find one that I can actually play extensively"?
We can sense that desire to play the real thing, even in the field. We want to cater to the feelings of guitarists who want a vintage instrument that they can pick up and play without any pressure, rather than just a collector's item to look at. This 1966 Stratocaster is the instrument that fulfills that wish.
In January 1965, Fender was sold to CBS, but Leo Fender continued to be involved in development as a consultant. This 1966 Stratocaster is a model born right in the transitional period, and while it's from the CBS era, it retains specifications that strongly reflect Leo Fender's philosophy. It features a transition logo, a thick headstock, a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard, and an ultra-thin lacquer finish that embodies the philosophy that "the thinner the paint, the better." The sunburst effect, where the redness from sun exposure fades and a pale yellowish tint develops, is a unique look created by time.
The sound is different from the stickiness and power of the early 60s. A lighter, more airy tone. Its natural response makes you want to play it for hours on end. The pickups feature gray bobbins, resulting in a pleasant clarity in the high frequencies. While it originally had a 3-way switch, replacing it with a 5-way switch will further enhance the appeal of the half-tones. This is a vintage guitar that can be enjoyed as is, and it will serve its purpose to the fullest as a guitar that you can play and have fun with.
The Stratocasters from the early CBS era, a transitional period, featured specifications unique to that time, with a perfect blend of pre-CBS aesthetics and CBS-era characteristics. The number of highly original specimens is decreasing year by year, and it is extremely rare for one to appear on the market in this condition.
This 1966 Stratocaster exudes vintage style while offering the reassuring comfort of everyday playability. Experience its light and resonant tone for yourself. This is a guitar I wholeheartedly recommend to both collectors and players.
