🔽~Always by the musician's side~ The History of the J-50, the "Good Partner"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gibson / 1951 J-50
First introduced in 1942 as the natural-finish J-45.
It later gained immense popularity as a signature model used by artists including Bob Dylan and Dave Graham.
This particular instrument was produced in 1951, nine years after its debut.
ーNatural Finish
The J-45, representing the round shoulder style, was only available in sunburst colors at the time. Cherry sunburst wasn't introduced until 1961. Thus, the J-50, featuring a natural finish on the round shoulder, was produced during this period of essentially a single color offering.
The top is made of spruce.

The sides and back are mahogany, finished in a brown color to match the top's natural finish.

The small pickguard shares the same specifications as the J-45.

The rosewood fingerboard features dot position markers.

The mahogany neck has a comfortably thick profile that fits well in the hand.

The rosewood bridge on the upper belly features a long saddle, indicating that the basic specifications are similar to the J-45.

The headstock features a gold Gibson modern logo decal, and the bell-shaped truss rod cover is made of one piece.

KLUSON triple-lock tuning machines without engraving are used, though the pegs themselves have been replaced.

While the J-45 is famous for its rounded shoulders, the J-50, with its fine-grained spruce and natural finish, offers a different kind of understated charm and appeal.
