[Condition]
There are small, spotty lacquer stains on parts of the key guard, keys, and bell. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches, lacquer wear, dents, or repair history. It has been overhauled, including complete disassembly of all keys, cleaning of the body, and replacement of all pads (CHANU plastic resonators / some metal), felt, and cork.

In 1980, Yanagisawa was one of the first in Japan to develop and commercialize the curved soprano saxophone, releasing the first-generation SC-80 as part of the Elimona series. Since then, the company has continued to nurture this category over many years, establishing the curved soprano as one of Yanagisawa’s signature characteristics.
This SC-90 model was introduced in 1990 as the successor to the SC-80.The neck octave key was changed to the “upper style” found on current models. Additionally, this generation features a newly added front F key, and the angle and height of the palm keys were revised, further enhancing playability. Although the table keys use the older system—unlike current models—the operating distance is short due to the soprano’s inherently small body, making fingering more comfortable than one might expect.
Unlike a straight soprano, it gives the sensation that the sound coalesces close to the body while projecting forward, resulting in a delicate and soft tone. Even within its rounded resonance, there is a core of strength, allowing you to enjoy the “intimate playing experience” unique to the curved model. The stable intonation balance characteristic of Yanagisawa is also a major appeal of this model.
