[Features]
This is a custom-made model with an upturned bell, based on the Yamaha Xeno 2nd generation, with the serial number Bass.
It was crafted around the same time as the Yamaha up-bell trumpet used by the renowned jazz trumpeter Terumasa Hino in the mid-1990s, making its very existence intriguing.
When it comes to up-bells, the 45-degree up-bell trumpet favored by modern jazz giant Dizzy Gillespie is incredibly famous, but the angle of this instrument is more modest, at around 25 degrees.
It is not designed solely for the radical visual impact; it also offers a practical advantage: even when held at a slight downward angle while reading sheet music, the bell naturally faces the front of the stage.
Of course, that’s not the only appeal of the up-bell.
The presence it commands on stage, and the sense of exhilaration that lifts the player’s spirits, are major attractions unique to this design. Just having the bell point upward somehow makes you feel more confident and forward-leaning. It’s practical, yet it possesses a flair that makes you sense immediately that this is no ordinary instrument. That exquisite balance is precisely what makes this model so fascinating.
The model listed as Bass is the Yamaha Xeno 2nd Generation Standard Model.
Built upon the solid foundation of the original design and playability, this is a highly unique custom model that adds the distinctive character and sense of exclusivity unique to the Upbell.
