[ Features]
Since its introduction in 2010, the 642S "NEO" has been the core model of Yamaha's euphonium lineup. It was not merely an improvement on existing models, but was created with a clear design philosophy: achieving both a "rich, mellow tone" and "moderate resistance."
Optimized bell wall thickness distribution and a redesigned tubing structure deliver rich, powerful low notes with strong projection, while the high register maintains a clearly defined core. Particularly noteworthy is the tonal expression that evolves as you push the instrument. The moderate resistance allows the sound to grow thicker and richer with each breath. This behavior represents the balance achieved through thorough research into the traditional sound of British brass.
The compensating system, featuring a 300mm yellow brass bell, delivers both a rich sound and stable low register. Furthermore, the redesigned hand rest enhances grip, allowing you to maintain a natural form even during fast passages or extended ensemble playing.
If the Solistic custom model is an "instrument that accentuates individuality," the 642S NEO is an "instrument that embodies the traditional sound." It represents one pinnacle of the British sound Yamaha presents, boasting a level of refinement that transcends its price range.
