YAMAHA / 1979 L-10 (Early Model)
Staff Comment: Inoue
An early-model L-10 featuring solid Brazilian rosewood for the sides and back.
The early and late models of the L-10 differ in the types of wood used.
The key difference is that the early model features solid Brazilian rosewood for the sides and back, while the late model features solid palisander.
Since Brazilian rosewood is now very difficult to source, it’s no wonder that many people specifically seek out the early model.
The top is made of solid Ezo pine, the fingerboard and bridge are ebony, and the neck is mahogany.
High-quality woods were selected for every part, and thanks to the meticulous craftsmanship, this guitar is still in excellent playing condition today.
Its tonal characteristics include rich overtones and deep bass.
When I play my usual songs on this guitar, I feel as though I’m discovering a different side to them.
It’s also charming how it changes its expression depending on how you play it—powerful and commanding when strummed, and delicate and refined when played in arpeggios.
It leaves a beautiful, sparkling sustain, making it a perfect match for mellow songs.
The body, which has been seasoned over 40 years, offers excellent resonance and response, with a depth that truly responds to your musical expression.
For any acoustic guitar enthusiast, a solid-top guitar made of Brazilian rosewood is surely a dream instrument you’d love to hold at least once.
Be sure to experience its sound for yourself.
