This is a TONE BENDER made in Italy with a hammer-gray case!!
The VOX Tone Bender was released in late 1966, based on the Sola Sound Tone Bender MK1.5, which had been introduced in early 1966. Then, in 1968, the design was updated to feature a black chassis with a silver panel.Since Arbiter’s Fuzz Face was also designed based on the MK1.5, it shares a very similar circuit. While the Fuzz Face is known for its fat sound, the VOX Tone Bender features sharp, cutting highs; this particular unit, however, has a sound concentrated in the mid-low range. Among the many medium-gain units available, this is a relatively high-gain model characterized by ample body and a slightly gritty tone.In recent years, it has become quite difficult to find good examples of this model, including ones with a great sound. There is a “6407” stamp on the back cover. When you turn down the guitar’s volume, it transforms into a beautiful clean sound. I’ve seen many of these units, and I believe this one has a particularly excellent sound.
