This Tone Bender is made in Italy and comes in a hammer grey case.
The VOX Tone Bender was released in late 1966, based on the Sola Sound Tone Bender MK1.5, released in early 1966. In 1968, the specifications were changed to a black body with silver panels. The Arbiter's Fuzz Face was also based on the MK1.5, and so has a similar circuit. While the Fuzz Face has a fat sound, the VOX Tone Bender offers sharp, clear highs. Its crisp, fuzzy attack, grainy distortion, and tight, firm low end create a sonic image that cuts through the intensity. Simply turning down the guitar volume knob makes it easy to achieve a crisp, clean sound, giving you a wide range of sound control at your fingertips. It has a sharp treble as well as ample mids and lows, resulting in a thick, powerful sound. This model is more of a medium-gain type, with a rich, fat sound and a somewhat clean tone. It's become increasingly difficult to find a good model these days.
