[Features]
This "Balanced model" is a special model, a completely unique piece, crafted by British trumpet maker Andy Taylor.
This instrument was born as an homage to Selmer's historic "Balanced model," beloved by Louis Armstrong throughout his life and favored by swing era masters such as Harry James.
The original "Balanced model," which appeared in the 1930s, achieved excellent balance and playing comfort through optimized weight distribution, featuring a revolutionary design concept for its time. Andy Taylor carefully captured its essence—the idea of "an instrument that can be held naturally, is comfortable to play for long periods, and allows the player to concentrate on the music"—and reconstructed it using modern manufacturing techniques.
While the form, bell shape, brace placement, and bore design deeply reflect respect for the original, this is never a mere copy. Unique design decisions backed by years of experience, combined with playful touches evident throughout, give this instrument a distinct "modernity." The valve casing uses Bowers & Wilkins components, achieving precise and smooth piston action that eliminates playing stress.
This instrument masterfully balances the nostalgic presence of swing jazz with modern playability and responsiveness.
True to its "Balanced model" name, this is Andy Taylor's heartfelt trumpet, where sound, weight, and playability are all in perfect harmony.
