This is an extremely rare fuzz/overdrive made by Sola Sound in the UK!
Carlsbro was a British amplifier manufacturer founded in 1960. It is a renowned brand used by major British rock artists, standing alongside established names like VOX, Marshall/Park, Sound City, Hiwatt, Matamp, and Orange. Around 1974, they entered the effects pedal market. Like pedals from PARK, B&M, and CSL, these were OEM products made by SOLASOUND (COLORSOUND). Initially, they were identical to the original COLORSOUND models except for the printed design. However, in the late 1970s, they partnered with Systech in Kalamazoo, USA, adopting their distinctive enclosure case and developing their own unique lineup. This unit is a fuzz/overdrive pedal utilizing an op-amp circuit. It features GAIN (Volume) and SUSTAIN (Distortion) controls. Its tone is somewhat akin to a slightly dialed-back Big Muff distortion, though the distortion texture leans more towards overdrive, boasting very fat lows. In terms of tone, it's perhaps closer to a Russian-made Muff. It offers a rich, resonant sustain and is a pedal we'd recommend to fans of 1970s hard rock!
