The story begins in the 1970s, when aerospace engineer Charlie Kaman questioned the conventional wisdom that acoustic guitars must be made of wood. He sought to shape the future of acoustic guitars using his engineering mindset. The "Adamas," introduced in 1976, pays homage to the beauty and tradition of acoustic guitars while featuring a design engineered through trial and error to maximize sound.
The top material chosen was carbon fiber. This revolutionary material achieved a top that was both thin and strong—something impossible with traditional wood—by combining rigidity and thinness, fundamentally changing the very nature of vibration. The result is a sound with a sharpened core strength, distinct from the rounded character that comes with the aging of wood.
This Super Adamas 1587-2 (1994) is a model that fully embodies the design philosophy of the top-tier series.
