Explanation
A practical jazz bass born from a hands-on approach!
SONIC was launched in 1983 as a brand of the Ramtrick Company. Based on the fundamental philosophy that these instruments are “tools used on the job”—whether in recording studios or live venues—the brand has continued to garner support from many musicians through its flexible design approach, always prioritizing the player’s perspective, and its reliable craftsmanship that maintains high quality.
This instrument is the 2019 SJB 4-string Model. It features a traditional JB style with an alder body and rosewood fingerboard, equipped with SONIC’s original Turbo Circuit. Additionally, it features a 21-fret fingerboard with raised frets, designed for modern practicality. The neck is designed to be slender and thin, allowing even players with smaller hands to fret comfortably. Its excellent playability and comfortable feel are key attractions.
The sound is bright with a quick attack, delivering a clear, well-defined tone characteristic of a jazz bass. It stands out clearly in an ensemble and is suitable for a wide range of genres.
Pulling the tone knob activates “TURBO J-BASS.” Unlike battery-powered preamps, this is a passive circuit that connects the two single-coil pickups in series, causing them to function like a humbucker (the rear volume control does not function in Turbo mode). When activated, the midrange is emphasized, transforming the sound into a more powerful and assertive tone. It effectively brings out your presence during Bass solos and in those crucial moments.
This is a battle-ready instrument designed with on-stage usability as the top priority!
