Explanation
A 1977 Precision Bass with a delightful lightweight ash body!
The Precision Bass was born in 1951 as the world’s first solid-body electric guitar Bass. Needless to say, modern music as we know it would not exist without this Bass. The Precision Bass has undergone slight design changes over the years since its release.
This model features an ash body and a one-piece maple neck. The neck date is ’77. The body date is illegible, and the pickup date is ’75. The pots are dated ’80. Taking everything into account, and considering the serial number, we have determined this to be a 1977 model. While the pots are from a similar era, they may have been replaced at a later date.
For a guitar of this era, the ash body is quite light. Rather than delivering a punchy, powerful sound, this particular instrument offers a well-balanced, mellow tone with a crisp attack. It’s in player’s condition with quite a few scratches, but it has been refretted and plays very well. Highly recommended for those looking for a lightweight 70s Precision Bass!
