🔽Now is the time to take an in-depth look at the "ideal acoustic guitar" that Ovation has always strived to create!

Ovation / 1993 Model 1681-5 Adamas II
[Staff Comment: Mochizuki]

In this world, a certain kind of constraint—or curse—known as “conventional wisdom” is rampant.
Haven’t you ever heard instrument shop staff or friends tell you with a straight face that using good wood produces a good sound, or that only old wood can produce the ultimate sound?
But one day, while playing a vintage guitar, I suddenly realized something.
"This guitar could sound a little better, couldn't it?"
And eventually, I found myself wondering:
"What exactly is the necessity of using wood?"
It was while these thoughts were swirling through my mind that I encountered this Adamas II / 1681-5.
With its jet-black body, multiple soundholes, and an overall appearance that seems to have come from outer space.
This is less an instrument and more of a philosophy. Or perhaps, an act of rebellion.
First of all, this guitar uses carbon graphite for the top. It’s not wood.
It isn’t wood, yet it resonates. To be precise, it resonates instantly.
While a standard wooden acoustic guitar is still getting up with a "heave-ho," this one has already set off on its journey.
The top, which is one-third the thickness of a standard guitar, picks up even the slightest touch of the player’s fingers, converts it into sound, and releases it.
The sound has a will of its own, traveling at the speed of sound. This is no exaggeration.
The back and sides feature Ovation’s signature Lyra Cord. This, too, is not wood.
With a bowl-like shape, it pushes the sound forward, much like the acoustics of a circular theater.
Plus, it features the “Deep Bowl” design.
In other words, it produces deep bass.
A single strum of the low strings produces a sound pressure that resonates deep in your chest.
The neck features a 5-layer construction of mahogany and maple. Walnut fingerboard. The electronics include an OP-24 preamp, ensuring that the signature Ovation sound—in the best possible way—remains intact even during line output.
Whether live or in the studio, no one will have a complaint.
That said, this guitar isn’t for everyone.
It’s not for those who enjoy playing guitar while inhaling the scent of wood.
It looks strange, the wood is strange, and the sound is strangely too good.
It is truly a strange yet majestic presence.
But if you’re thinking, “Maybe it’s time to break free from the preconception that ‘a guitar must be this way’,”
This jet-black Adamas will surely become your weapon—or rather, your bomb.
