HISTORY / 2012 NT-L3
Today we’re introducing the “NT-L3” from HISTORY, the flagship brand produced by Shimamura Gakki. Recruit the classic dreadnought
style—the quintessential acoustic guitar design known for its most dynamic sound—this model appears traditional at first glance, yet its interior embodies the very essence of Japanese woodworking craftsmanship.
Manufacturing is handled by Fujigen in Nagano Prefecture, renowned as one of the world’s leading guitar factories.
Skilled artisans assemble each guitar with astonishing precision.

The luxurious specification—featuring carefully selected solid wood throughout the entire body—is this guitar’s greatest strength. It delivers a deep resonance, as if the wood itself were breathing, and
a natural sustain that seems to stretch on forever—qualities that laminated guitars can never achieve.

Above all, what defines this guitar’s unique character is its proprietary “Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.).”By
setting the frets at a slight arc so that all strings intersect them at right angles, this technology has brought about a dramatic evolution in acoustic guitars. The pitch remains extremely accurate no matter which position you play, fundamentally eliminating the muddiness in chords that has long plagued players.
The clear attack provided by C.F.S. vividly corrects those minor mis-touches and blurred note contours that you may have previously attributed to your own technique.
Furthermore, the sound balance—which retains the rich bass characteristic of a Dreadnought while allowing the mid and high registers to cut through with surprising clarity—truly shines when singing and playing. It provides a rich accompaniment
that never interferes with your singing voice but rather complements it, enhancing its appeal.
The sturdy neck construction, crafted by artisans well-versed in Japan’s climate, combined with meticulously rounded fret edges, offers a playing feel that seems to cling to the palm of your hand, bringing a sense of joy that makes you want to play for hours on end.
No matter how impressive the specifications may be, the essence of an acoustic guitar lies in the unique character created by the living material—wood. The instrument
we’re introducing here is particularly notable for the wide dynamic range characteristic of an all-solid-wood model; it possesses an exceptionally responsive and rich expressiveness, responding delicately to a light touch and with boundless power to a strong strum.

The craftsmanship and acoustic qualities—which, if from a high-end international brand, would easily command more than double the price—are made possible at this reasonable price point thanks to the pride of Japanese artisans. This is perhaps the greatest stroke of luck one could hope for when selecting a guitar today.
