[Features]
The RAJNA is a C-tube trumpet crafted to mark Monette’s 30th anniversary. It is a bold creation unique to Monette, blending the playability of the AJNA with the proportions and design philosophy cultivated in the PRANA and the heavyweight RAJA models. The name “RAJNA” itself is a combination of “AJNA” and “RAJA.” Taking an approach that defies traditional trumpet conventions, it pursues everything from tone and response to the relationship between the body and breathing.
Despite its overwhelming weight of 1,866 grams, it never feels sluggish to play. A rich, expansive sound emerges the moment you begin to play, and the transition to the upper register is smooth. At ff, the sound grows in volume without becoming harsh, and even at pp, it retains its core and density. It responds quickly to wide dynamic changes.
Distinctive features such as the unique sheet brace, 140-millimeter bell, and .468-inch large bore—all part of its unique proportions—are key elements that shape RAJNA’s character. Furthermore, the mouthpiece features Monnet’s proprietary Threaded Integral Mouthpiece system, which screws directly into the instrument. This thoroughly embodies Monnet’s philosophy of designing the instrument and mouthpiece as a single acoustic system. This model comes with three dedicated mouthpieces of varying depths, allowing you to customize the setup according to your intended use and desired tone.
The key to unlocking this instrument’s potential lies in the approach to body and breathing that Monnet has consistently advocated: rather than forcing the sound with brute force, one should release unnecessary tension and allow the instrument to resonate through natural breathing. When this is achieved, the RAJNA responds with a freedom far beyond what one might expect from its heavyweight body, filling the space with a rich, three-dimensional resonance.
With its 24K gold-plated brushed satin finish, unique bracing, and dedicated mouthpiece system, RAJNA is anything but an “ordinary C-tube”—from its appearance to its playing philosophy. It is a special instrument that embodies the experience and philosophy Monnet has cultivated over 30 years.
