After starting his career in the early 1980s at Rudy’s Music in New York, he co-founded the brand “Pensa-Suhr” with Rudy Pensa, built amplifiers at Custom Audio, and served as a master builder at the Fender Custom Shop before establishing his own brand, Suhr Guitars, in 1997.
As a high-end guitar brand, it enjoys tremendous support from a wide range of artists.
The Modern Pro model we’ve just received is packed with Suhr’s cutting-edge technology and, as the name suggests, is a modern-style guitar.
The body shape, which at first glance resembles an ST-type, features an offset design that ensures stable playability across a variety of playing styles.
Although the neck features 24 frets, the deep cutaway and the rounded, heel-less body joint allow for stress-free playing in the higher frets.
The pickups are configured in an HSH pattern, featuring Suhr SSV/ML/SSH+ models.
The front pickup delivers a sound with the midrange presence of a Gibson humbucker, yet it remains crisp and responsive, with no muddiness.
The middle position delivers a tight, well-defined single-coil tone.
The bridge pickup is also tight, but has a character that tends toward a "bright and punchy" tone, offering just the right amount of sustain when distorted.
