momose is a Japanese handmade brand combining vintage-like sound with modern playability. These custom handmade Bass are crafted by skilled artisans under the guidance and supervision of Kyoji Momose, one of Japan's foremost guitar makers.
The MJ2-STD inherits the traditional JB style while incorporating momose's unique refinements.
Wood materials: Ash body, slab rosewood fingerboard. While the body shape appears to be a standard JB style at first glance, the cutaway on the 1st string side is larger than usual, improving playability in the higher positions. Additionally, the fingerboard sides feature binding made from the same rosewood as the fingerboard, preventing fret burrs while supporting smooth finger movement.
While maintaining a traditional look, the design incorporates thoughtful features like a recessed joint plate and a rod adjustment on the headstock, prioritizing playability and ease of maintenance.
It impresses with its excellent balance across all strings, from 1 to 4, without any particular range—low or high—dominating. You can feel the ash wood's straight, clear projection and tightness, yet thanks to the slab rosewood fingerboard, the sound is rich and has a nice stickiness to it.
