McPherson / MG-5.0XP Koa Carpathian Red Spruce
While many excellent guitars exist, instruments that simultaneously fulfill all of the following at a high level are extremely rare:
only a handful of instruments achieve all of these qualities at a high level simultaneously.
And when players actually experience this, many feel:
"This feels like a completely different instrument from any guitar I've played before."
The guitar we introduce today is a supreme example that embodies all these qualities.

Handcrafted in Sparta, Wisconsin, USA, McPherson Guitars.
This particular guitar belongs to the MG Series.
The MG series represents McPherson's signature original body style, a flagship series that blends the rich acoustic characteristics of a jumbo size with the powerful presence of a dreadnought.
The defining feature of this guitar is its design philosophy centered on "maximizing vibrational efficiency."
The first thing that catches the eye is the offset soundhole, positioned toward the player rather than centered.

This design preserves the continuity of the top's center, expanding the vibrating surface area.
As a result, the player experiences the guitar's sound more directly.
While most guitars radiate sound forward, this design creates the sensation that the player is at the very center of the sound.
Even more innovative is the cantilevered (floating) neck structure.

On a conventional guitar, the neck is joined to the top plate, imposing certain constraints on its vibration.
However, in the McPherson, the neck is suspended above the top, allowing the top to vibrate more freely.
This design produces astonishing responsiveness and sustain.
The long-lasting resonance, reminiscent of a grand piano, makes it feel like an instrument transcending the boundaries of a guitar.
And then there's the 5-inch (approx. 12.7cm) deep body, which gives the MG-5.0 its name.

This body depth delivers bass tones as rich and deep as a dreadnought, along with overwhelming volume. Thanks to McPherson's unique design, the bass is substantial yet never muddy, with each note clearly defined.
Furthermore, this particular instrument features the XP specification (Extra Large Soundhole).
By adopting a larger soundhole than the standard model, it further amplifies sound projection and air movement.
The moment a chord is struck, the sound is propelled forward while simultaneously filling the entire space.
This sense of scale is a point that surprises many players the first time they play it.
The wood composition of this particular instrument is also special.
The top is made from Carpathian Red Spruce, grown in the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe.
Its acoustic characteristics are highly regarded for combining the rigidity of Adirondack spruce with the lightness of European spruce.
In other words, it offers headroom to withstand strong picking and responsiveness to delicate touch.
It is an exceptionally fine tonewood that achieves both.
The sound is bright and transparent, yet accompanied by complex and beautiful overtones. Whether playing single notes or chords, the sound blends together and melts into the space.
The back and sides feature exceptionally beautiful koa.

It delivers the characteristic brilliant highs and rich, lustrous midrange of koa.
Adding this wood imparts a brilliance and depth to the transparent sound characteristic of McPherson guitars.
The result is a guitar with
"Overwhelming volume"
"unbelievably long sustain"
"clear separation of tones"
"vast soundstage"
all at once. And the player themselves is at the center of it all.
This sensation is precisely why so many musicians are captivated by McPherson.
Furthermore, to ensure immediate effectiveness on stage and in the studio, it features Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend.

From delicate nuances to dynamic performances, it faithfully reproduces this guitar's three-dimensional sound.
A supremely crafted instrument, where every detail is both rational and beautiful.
The moment you strum a single chord, you'll understand why players worldwide are captivated by McPherson.
