Explanation
Marin / 2000 Model 000-28EC
[Demo Video]
—Signature model of legendary guitarist Eric Clapton In 1992, “MTV Unplugged” became a legend etched into music history. The acoustic sounds of “Layla” and “Tears in Heaven,” woven from the vintage Martin 000-42 that Eric Clapton held in his hands, shocked the world and sparked a global boom in the reappraisal of acoustic guitars.
In response to that frenzy, this Martin 000-28EC was officially released as a signature model in 1996.
—Body based on the 000 size
The top features amber-stained Sitka spruce. In addition to ivoroid binding, the herringbone purfling lends the guitar a classic look.
—Rosette
The soundhole is adorned with a black-and-cream multicolor rosette featuring a herringbone pattern. The pickguard features a teardrop-shaped tortoiseshell inlay.
—Sides/Back
Beautiful straight-grained Indian rosewood is used. The center strip features a zigzag pattern, evoking the atmosphere of a pre-war 000-28. Like the top, the binding is made of ivoroid.
—Fingerboard/Bridge
The fingerboard, with a 44mm nut width, is made of ebony. The position marks feature diamond-square inlays, and the 20th fret is inscribed with Eric Clapton’s signature. The bridge is fitted with a short saddle.
—V-Shaped Neck
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the Clapton model is its V-shaped neck. While opinions on this shape may vary, it’s a neck that can only be experienced on this particular instrument, and it’s one of the factors that produces a sound that is both brilliant and well-balanced.
—Headstock
The headstock, finished in gloss, features the Martin Old-Style logo.
—Tuning Machines
The guitar is equipped with open-back tuners stamped with the Martin logo. The butterbean pegs lend an authentic look.
A sublime resonance that stirs the soul with just a single strum. We invite you to savor it while immersing yourself in the story of Eric Clapton.
