We've received a D-45, which was recently updated with an adjustable rod.
According to the Martin reference book, the serial numbers will be gradually transitioned starting from 453181.
The serial number of this particular item is 458***, which matches the contents of the book, and I am thrilled.
As for the production number of Martin D-45s in 1985, only 78 units were made.
In that sense, it seems to be historically very valuable as the "first year of adjustable D-45s."
One interesting point is that it differs from the way adjustable rods were constructed in the 1990s. It was fascinating to see the trial and error process at play.
In my opinion, the D-45 with a square rod has a robust and somewhat wild sound, while the one with an adjustable rod has a more cohesive and well-balanced tone.
For those who want a more refined, historically significant D-45, this is the perfect instrument!

There are some minor scratches and blemishes, but considering its age, it is in very good condition. There are no cracks or crack repairs, the finish is original, and it has plenty of collectible qualities.

The neck has a comfortable, soft V-shape with just the right thickness, making it easy to grip.
