This guitar perfectly encapsulates the allure of the "Herringbone D-28," the quintessential acoustic guitar and the object of every guitarist's admiration, and truly deserves to be called a historical treasure.

The body top is made of Adirondack spruce with a dense grain.RecruitIt is. Just looking at how densely packed the fibers are, you have to say it's in a class of its own.
The sides and back are generously crafted from the finest Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda), boasting a deep, beautiful grain, allowing you to truly feel the exceptional quality of the materials characteristic of the pre-war era.
The combination of traditional ivoroid binding and herringbone trim framing the body exudes a special elegance and aura unique to this era.

The headstock features a rare, original Grover G111 shielded-back tuner. Its classic appearance and the aged metal parts further enhance its vintage appeal. The original tortoiseshell pickguard, which has beautifully blended with the body over time, is also still intact.

The most noteworthy feature of this 1939 model lies in its exquisite transitional specifications. The neck width is a wide 45mm nut width, maintaining the comfortable playability of the pre-war era. This is the earliest specification, just before the transition to approximately 43mm midway through 1939, providing a solid grip and a powerful, resonant tone. Furthermore, the internal structure features the "rear-shifted scalloped X-bracing," which had only been adopted at the end of the previous year.RecruitCompared to the forward-shifted era, not only is the strength around the bridge increased, but the way the top wood resonates also changes significantly. While the forward-shifted version concentrates the power of the sound near the soundhole, the rear-shifted version gives the impression that the vibrations are evenly distributed throughout the entire top. Yet, the power, thickness, and richness of the sound remain intact. This is a superb guitar that allows you to experience a truly mature tone.
