1989 Les Paul Custom!!
Introduced in 1954 as Les Paul's top-tier model, the Les Paul Custom was released under the concept of "a Les Paul that goes with a tuxedo." It featured a premium look and specifications, including a black finish, custom cell binding, and gold hardware.
Later, in 1961, the Les Paul transitioned to the SG shape, causing the Custom to disappear for a time. However, the Les Paul shape returned in 1968, and with it, the Les Paul Custom was revived.
The revived Les Paul Custom featured a two-pickup configuration and a maple top body.
In 1974, a white finish was added, gaining popularity through its use by heavy rock/heavy metal artists like Randy Rhoads.
Around 1975, the neck material changed to maple.
This 1989 model features a one-piece mahogany neck, bringing it closer to the wood specifications of the 1968 model.
It is equipped with the HB-R and HB-L pickups developed by Bill Lawrence.
It delivers solid power with a thick sound in the mid-high range. When distorted, it offers a nice, crisp bite and a satisfyingly sticky feel, making it perfectly compatible with distortion sounds.
If you're looking for a Les Paul Custom that handles heavy distortion, give this one a try!
