[Features]
Kuhn & Höyer is a German wind instrument manufacturer founded in 1948. Going beyond the confines of traditional German brass instruments, the company has incorporated modern design concepts into the precision of handcrafted instruments, creating a worldwide range of instruments suitable for use across genres.
The company’s defining characteristic is not so much maintaining a single standard model for a long time, but rather revising and updating its models at relatively short intervals to meet the needs of players and adapt to changing times. This approach—combining tradition with the latest technology to create instruments that are easier to play and of the highest quality—can be described as a modern manufacturing philosophy shared by companies like Yamaha.
This 139 OEe is a discontinued model that was part of the Professional Series lineup in the 2000s. It is a highly expandable, large-bore tenor trombone featuring an open-wrap design, an interchangeable bell, and an interchangeable mouthpipe.
The combination of a 220mm yellow brass bell, a 13.9mm wide-bore slide, and a gold brass mouthpipe ensures stable response across the entire range. Airflow is smooth, and the sound attacks naturally. While it possesses a rich dynamic range capable of handling large ensembles, its excellent balance ensures it never feels unwieldy.
The sound is not merely heavy, but clear and of high quality. Suitable for a wide range of settings—from wind bands and orchestras to ensembles—this instrument responds faithfully to the player’s intentions.
Combining the meticulous craftsmanship of German handcrafting with modern playability, this is a professional model that embodies the essence of K&H.
