KAMAKA / 2006 HF-2

Want a sound with more depth?
A century of history and 20 years of refinement to satisfy that desire
The more you play the ukulele, the more you feel the Hawaiian breeze—do you find yourself thinking, “I want to discover an authentic tone,” or “My current instrument can’t fully convey the nuances I want to express”?
Precisely because it’s an instrument that’s easy to pick up, many players hit a “sound barrier” as they improve—one that mass-produced instruments simply can’t satisfy.
I completely understand your desire to find that one instrument—a unique companion you can enjoy for a lifetime.
KAMAKA—the pinnacle of all ukuleles—is here to put an end to that never-ending search for the perfect instrument.
Founded in 1916 by Samuel Kamaka, Kamaka is Hawaii’s oldest ukulele maker—it’s no exaggeration to say that Kamaka is the history of the ukulele itself.
Today, the shape and size of the ukulele that are considered the standard were all established by KAMAKA.
Among them, the HF-2 is a concert-sized model that strikes an exquisite balance between the lightness of a soprano and the rich volume and playability of a tenor.
It is characterized by its asymmetrical headstock, a feature unique to the HF-2.
Hawaiian koa wood, used for the ukulele body, has the unique quality of developing its sound over time as it is played.
While a new Kamaka has a youthful, crisp tone, this 2006 model has spent 20 years allowing the moisture to fully dry out of the wood, causing it to “remember” vibrations at the cellular level.
As a result, it features a rounded, sweet, and mellow tone—one that can never be experienced with a new instrument—along with deep sustain that makes the entire body vibrate.
Currently, high-quality Hawaiian koa wood is becoming increasingly scarce year by year due to global depletion.
A well-preserved instrument crafted from the abundant, high-quality koa wood available in the mid-2000s—and further enhanced by the added value of 20 years of aging—is not something you can easily find even on the used market.
Both its grain pattern and its matured tone make this a truly one-of-a-kind instrument.
The authentic Hawaiian tone you’ve always longed for is now within your reach.
As an irreplaceable companion that will stay by your side throughout your musical journey.
Please play this miraculous instrument—one that should be passed down to the next generation—with your own hands.
