Explanation
A 1983 Duncan JB crafted by Yumi Acoustics!
In the 1980s, Yumi Onkyo Laboratory manufactured and sold Seymour Duncan guitars and Bass. Although Yumi Onkyo disbanded in the 1990s, its instruments remain popular to this day thanks to the company’s exceptional craftsmanship.
This instrument is a JB-type model from 1983, dating back to the Yumi Onkyo era. It features an alder body and an ebony fingerboard. The neck is crafted from high-quality maple with a flame pattern. These luxurious specifications are characteristic of that era.
Perhaps due to the slightly heavier body, it’s characterized by a dense, low-center-of-gravity sound. It delivers clear bass and seems to handle distortion well.
Not only does it deliver a natural and pleasant tone when plugged directly into an amp, but I also find it extremely versatile as a raw, unprocessed sound—whether used before Effector or as a clean line input for a DI or DAW. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a ready-to-use jazz bass for home recording or live performances!
