The Fender Jazz Bass: The Essence of the '70s
The Jazz Bass remains the standard for bassists around the world. Even now, more than 60 years after its debut in 1960, it continues to be loved by many players without having undergone any major stylistic changes.
The joint plate on this particular instrument has been replaced, so the serial number cannot be verified. The pot date is ’75 (the rear volume pot is illegible); the front pickup is dated ’76; and while the rear pickup’s date is illegible, we have determined it to be original. Since there is no headstock serial number and it features a three-point joint plate, it is almost certainly a 1976 model.
With its white finish, black pickguard, block position markers, and neck binding, this guitar embodies the iconic look of the 1970s. Featuring an ash body, maple fingerboard, and a weight exceeding 5 kg, its specifications are quintessentially late-1970s.
With weighty lows and crisp highs, it delivers a well-defined Jazz Bass sound. This particular instrument is especially impressive for its rich bass presence and sound pressure, producing a solid, low-center-of-gravity tone. Its quick response and excellent sound projection make it perfect for slapping. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a “classic ’70s Jazz Bass”!
