We’ve just received a 1968 J-45 from the final production run of the vintage round-shoulder models.

Known as “The Workhorse,” this model has been beloved by countless musicians and singer-songwriters since its debut in 1942. Since the body shape transitioned to the square-shoulder design the following year in 1969, this instrument represents the final, highly sought-after era of the traditional, rounded-shoulder style.

The most iconic visual feature is the “Logo Pickguard (Logo P.G.),” unique to this era. The gold Gibson logo printed on the thick pickguard exudes a striking personality, and when combined with the subtle, rich Tobacco Sunburst gradient, it creates the rugged and commanding aura unique to vintage Gibsons.

In terms of specifications, it features the “narrow neck” and “14-degree headstock angle,” both iconic elements of the late 1960s. The slim neck profile provides a unique playing feel, especially when forming chords with the thumb or executing powerful strums in the lower positions.
