A mute for trumpet/cornet produced by Huber Music.
[Features]
"Huber Mutes" are crafted in Brooklyn, New York. They produce a diverse range of mutes, including cup, straight, wah-wah, pixie, and solotone types. What remains consistent is that all are Bass based on "classic mutes that are no longer available."
We have recreated the vintage sounds of Shastock, Ray Robinson, and the Newston Line during their Chicago period, incorporating Huber Music's unique interpretation, in a more user-friendly form.
●Straight
Choose from three types with different base materials.
"Maple" offers soft tonal contours and a spacious sound. It's ideal for situations requiring a calm, warm tone.
"Stainless Steel" delivers a unique, gritty sound with a distinct edge. It's dark and heavy, powerful when blown hard, offering a character unlike any other mute.
"Aluminum" provides a well-defined sound contour and a focused sound. While the most familiar to many players, it also offers a slightly softer nuance.
●Cups
The combination of two body types and three cup types produces different sounds; each is sold separately.
・Body
"Type A" features a large entrance hole and a long straight section. Inspired by the Shastock cup mute, it produces a bright, open cup sound.
"Type B" is Huber's unique design. Its smaller entrance hole and longer taper create more internal space, emphasizing the characteristic soft, cup-like sound. A familiar cup sound.
・Cup
The "Bowl" was designed to replicate the sound of the discontinued Shastock cup mute Bass.
"Felt Line" was designed Bass to replicate the cup mute sound of the discontinued Ray Robinson model.
"Scalop" was designed Bass to replicate the cup mute sound of the traditional, old Chicago-era New Stone Line.
●Step Wah
While not the typical wah-wah sound, it perfectly recreates the sweet sound sought in swing jazz. Harry Edisonused it onhis1944 recordings.
●Solo Tone
This solo mute, inspired by 1930s Shackstock, allows you to choose from three playing sensations and sounds—Open, M, and L—by combining it with the two included parts. It is sometimes used in Dixieland and older big band styles.
●Pixie
When used with a plunger mute, it produces a versatile, open sound. It also prevents the sound from breaking when the plunger is closed, enabling stable low notes and reliable playing.
The traditional round style offers a slightly compact, cohesive sound. The flat-bottomed type delivers an open, modern sound. Both have evolved into exceptionally easy-to-use mutes with outstanding pitch balance, far surpassing previous Pixie models.
●Mellow Wah
Retains vintage sound character while delivering clear intonation. The only choice when you need a slightly softer, more delicate sound than a standard wah-wah!
