" Legendary romance resides within this single instrument. " Horton ST303 "Firebird"
[Overview]
Holton B♭ Trumpet, ST303 Firebird. 127mm Yellow Brass Bell. Valve Bore 468" Large Bore. Silver Plated Finish. Instrument Weight 1187 grams. Made in 1995. Accessories: Genuine Hard Case
[Condition]
Body and bell show only light scratches and scattered polishing marks. No dents or repair history. Excellent condition. Small screw preventing the stopper rod from falling out at the base of the slide stopper rod is missing (the stopper rod retaining screw is installed elsewhere, causing no functional issues). The slide lock ring can fall out if turned too far inward, so a rubber ring is installed.
[Features]
The legendary special trumpet "Firebird" was first unveiled in the opening of Maynard Ferguson's smash hit "Conquistador" (1977). In addition to the piston valves found on a standard trumpet, it has a hybrid structure with a slide (*1) that can be operated simultaneously. The entire instrument is tuned using the double tube section of the slide (*2), and both the pistons and slide can be operated with either hand. Of course, it can also be used as a normal trumpet without operating the slide. The mouthpiece shank is the same as a standard trumpet.
Although it was part of the lineup from its debut in 1977 until 1999, production numbers were low and only a few remain. It is rarely found on the market. Finding one in such good condition as this one is truly a miracle. This is a romantic instrument, a "special model played by the legendary Ferguson" that you can now own. Don't miss this opportunity!
*1: Positions up to 4 ( one and a half notes). A limited edition version with two stages extending to 7 positions was produced in the late 1990s.
*2: Early models were tuned using a mouthpiece receiver, similar to a flugelhorn. Other changes include the presence or absence of an emblem support on the slide and modifications to the water key specifications.
