The Highway One Precision Bass with an ultra-thin lacquer finish!
The Fender USA Highway One series offers excellent value—Made in the USA at an affordable price. While the price is kept reasonable by omitting certain steps in the finishing process, this popular series is known for its commitment to bringing out the natural resonance of the wood through the use of a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
This instrument features a classic combination of an alder body and a rosewood fingerboard, paired with original pickups. The bridge is an earlier version—predating the BADASS II specification—and features vintage-style spiral saddles. It showcases the distinctive thin lacquer finish characteristic of the Highway One series, and the back of the body displays natural buckle marks, indicating it has been well-played.
The neck shape is relatively slim for a Precision Bass, so we highly recommend it to players who are hesitant about the typically thick necks associated with Precision Basses.
The sound is powerful, with an impressive, full-bodied low-end. You can also feel the excellent clarity in the mid to high frequencies, which deliver a crisp, lively response when pulled during slap playing. This is a truly captivating instrument with the open sound characteristic of an ultra-thin lacquer finish!
