Explanation
Headway / HJ-CB Polestar
[Comment by Mochizuki]
A “sculpture of sound” where the spirit of the craftsman resonates with the mysteries of nature.
This guitar is more than just an instrument. It is a “work of art” born from the story embedded in a single tree and the crystallization of the artisan’s sensibility.
The top features special cedar grown within the grounds of Nikko Toshogu Shrine, a sacred site in Japan. The rich yet delicate resonance produced by this wood, nurtured in a sacred place, possesses a softness that gently seeps into the listener’s heart.
The sides and back are lavishly crafted from the highest grade quilted mahogany. Its flowing grain is so beautiful that it needs no adornment, captivating the gaze of all who see it. The neck is made from rare Honduran mahogany cut on all four sides, delivering rich bass tones while ensuring high stability through internal carbon reinforcement. Furthermore, exotic ebony is used for the fingerboard and bridge, further enhancing playability and tonal responsiveness.
Another noteworthy feature is the artistic exterior. The black-and-gold resin art on the pickguard and headstock is handcrafted by skilled finishers at the Asuka factory. The design, in which gold sparkles like stars against a deep, cosmic black, exudes a solemn presence that can truly be called “heavenly protection.”
The overarching theme of this model is “the vitality of the earth and the guidance of the heavens.” It embodies wood—the physical manifestation of the earth’s energy—and possesses an aura that seems to be blessed by the Polestar, the star shining in the northern sky. Though it is just a single guitar, every time you play it, you can feel nature, the universe, and the craftsman’s philosophy. That is the true value of the HJ-CB Polestar.
