[Features]
Hawkins mutes, which have been gaining attention across Europe for several years now. Their most distinctive feature is the eye-catching polygonal, unconventional design, but they are also exceptionally well-engineered. The excellent intonation goes without saying; they feel like you're hardly playing with a mute at all, making them very comfortable to play.
・Straight/London
This design features a larger bore. The tonal balance is roughly resin:metal = 3:7. It completely avoids the dull attack often associated with resin mutes, while also not sounding overly sharp like aluminum mutes. It achieves an excellent balance between sound projection and blending with the surrounding ensemble, making it feel like an upgraded version of a standard straight mute.
・Straight/Berlin
A model that maintains the excellent sound of a straight mute while offering great projection and fully expressing the trumpet's character. Originally designed for rotary valves, it also pairs well with piston valves on models like the Bach 72 or Yamaha Vienna, especially those with larger bells. Players who struggle with attack response when using straight mutes will likely achieve good results with this.
・Adjustable Cup
A model incorporating an innovative idea: the cup section can be adjusted by twisting it. While the Newston line cup weighs around 90g, this model is a substantial 170g. However, it offers surprisingly quick response and a velvety, delicate, and soft sound.
・Wah-Wah (with Stem)
This overcomes the common weaknesses of wah-wah mutes, such as challenging intonation and muffled volume or range. It produces a subdued, crackling sound that differs slightly in character from a metallic tone. Recommended for those who desire a warm wah-wah sound without the muddiness.
