Explanation
Late-Model GOB900 with Passive Modifications
In the 1970s, as various manufacturers in Japan released numerous copy models, Greco also made a name for itself by producing many famous replica models. From the late 1970s onward , Greco began focusing on the production of its own original models, and the GO series was born in 1977.
This instrument is a 1979 GOB-900. It features a 5-piece neck and 22 frets, characteristic of the late-model specification. Although the second digit of the serial number is missing, we have determined it to be a 1979 model based on its late-model specifications. This particular guitar has had its preamp removed and has been modified to a passive configuration. The controls consist of two volume knobs, one tone knob, and a pickup selector switch; the two mini-switches are dummy switches.
You can sense the attention to detail characteristic of Japanese manufacturers in various aspects, such as the through-neck construction and the laminated wood used for the neck and body.
There is a small chip in the wood on the side of the fingerboard near the nut on the 4th string side, but it does not interfere with playing.
It delivers a low end that firmly supports ensemble playing without becoming muddy. With a clean, tight sound and a texture that isn’t too harsh, this is a truly appealing instrument!
