Gibson / 2013 1960s J-45 Ebony Black
Released by the Gibson Custom Shop, this model is inspired by the ebony-colored J-45 that was sold as an off-catalog color around 1968.
A notable feature is the ivory-colored large pickguard.
I also noticed that the inclusion of the Gibson logo is a nice touch.
Although the pickguard is screwless, it gives the guitar a more refined look compared to the sunburst finish.
The use of slot saddles on the bridge is a playful touch by Gibson, incorporating a feature unique to this model while paying homage to 1960s specifications. It’s a distinctive feature.
Also, while an oval orange label is typically affixed near the soundhole, this model—perhaps in a nod to vintage aesthetics—lacks the label; instead, a “J-45” stamp is imprinted on the center bracing on the back of the body.
The slim-tapered neck offers a comfortable grip and excellent playability.
