Explanation
"We want to sound the thick, lustrous, mellow humbucker tone unique to the Les Paul, but without having to worry about its weight and the strain on the hand from high-position playing." And among the many SGs out there, wouldn’t you like to find a truly authentic one equipped with the beauty of classic aesthetics and the outstanding feel that shines in actual performance?
Gibson’s masterpiece SG, which has outlived many great musicians who have shaped music history, including Pete Townshend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, and Eric Clapton.
This style, which appeared like a comet in 1961 as a model change for the Les Paul, continues to fascinate players to this day with its lightweight, thin body and overwhelmingly playable high-position performance. However, in modern standard models, there are very few opportunities to encounter an individual that, over nearly 30 years, has only gained the mahogany’s mature character, plus the tight, edgy response and exquisite modifications that make it truly come alive.
The 1998 Gibson Les Paul SG '62 Reissue, with its wood matured over 28 years since manufacture. The classic aesthetics of the '62 specifications and the powerful modifications that are immediately apparent to the player have been condensed into this instrument.
Thanks to its deeply carved double-cutaway and slim body construction, your fingers glide smoothly all the way to the final joint. Its easy-to-handle, lightweight body is fatigue-free even during long live performances, and it has earned tremendous support from players with smaller hands and from female players as well.
On the small pickguard, a hallmark of the '62 style, the neck with celluloid binding, and the classic position markersRecruit, it proudly flaunts the elegant appearance unique to vintage SGs.
For the pickup, it has a popular Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickup upgrade. The visually classic, substantial feel rises all at once, while the tight, edgy sound characteristic of mahogany adds a strong midrange and clear cut, producing an excellent drive tone.
The Tremolo Unit has been generously assembled with Maestro Bigsby. Together with the visually classic, substantial feel that rises at once, it makes richly nuanced sound expression possible.
Since its manufacture in 1988, 38 years have passed, and the mahogany has lost all its moisture, giving it exceptional response speed when picking. For guitarists who want to move lightly on stage while still sounding a thick, edgy rock tone, or who want to play solo passages in high positions stress-free, it is the ultimate companion.
The good tone and clear cut cultivated over 38 years, and the overwhelming presence that the Bigsby creates. Please experience the stress-free high-position performance.
