This instrument is a model that was released in 1996 as part of the Classic Series.
Although the label reads “1963 J-45,” the warranty card from the importer at the time and catalogs from that era show that it was sold under the name “J-45 WESTERN.”

The headstock features a print of the so-called “banner” reading “ONLY A GIBSON IS GOOD ENOUGH” (meaning that only a Gibson is the one and only authentic guitar).
Similarly, the Gibson modern logo is featured on the headstock.
The “G” is characterized by its angular typeface.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover features a 2-piece design rather than a 1-piece one Recruit.
The round-shouldered body is made of Sitka spruce.
It is finished in a Vintage Sunburst color.
A small pickguard is installed instead of a large one.
Combined with the headstock banner, it evokes the look of a 1940s J-45.
The sides and back are made of mahogany and finished in a dark walnut color.
The mahogany grain is visible through the finish.
The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features dot position markers in mother-of-pearl.
The mahogany neck is 3P Recruit and features a V-shaped neck profile.
The Upberry bridge is fitted with short saddles and white bridge pins.
The tuning machines are KLUSON DELUXE Rotomatic tuners Recruit.
