Gibson / 1964 J-50
One of the most notable features of the 1964 model is the pickguard.
Whereas models made before 1964 featured thin, large tortoiseshell-patterned pickguards Recruit, the specifications changed thereafter to thicker, large pickguards with a deeper red hue.
The neck is a standard neck with a 42.5mm grip—a comfortable thickness—so this is a model I highly recommend for those who aren’t fond of narrow necks.
The J-50 offers a charm distinct from that of the J-45.
The reddish pickguard, which really stands out against the natural finish, makes this a truly irresistible guitar.
