This particular J-45 from the mid-1960s features a faded cherry sunburst finish, a characteristic of vintage J-45s.
The pickguard is a thin, large celluloid pickguard. The tuning pegs are single-line Kluson Deluxe. Both models were finalized in 1964, and this orange sunburst color scheme, representing the early 1960s specifications, might be surprisingly rare.
The bridge plate has four places where screw holes have been filled, indicating that a bridge plate was originally installed. Plastic bridges were confirmed to have been used on J-45s between 1962 and 1964. The timing matches, so it's almost certainly correct. The bridge is made of ebony that is smoothly shaped towards both ends. It is finished and glued without any noticeable inconsistencies, and the holes for the bridge plate have been carefully filled, suggesting that it was maintained by a very skilled craftsman. The sound has a tighter, more defined tone compared to the plastic bridge version.
The exterior also features a stylish weather check pattern, giving it a vintage look. It's incredibly comfortable to play, and for those who are captivated by its sound and looks, I hope you'll welcome it into your lifelong companion.
It also comes with the original chipboard case in excellent condition, with the Gibson logo still clearly visible.
[Repair/modification history / replacement parts / exterior condition, etc.] *This information is based on our inspection of used/vintage items. Please be aware of this in advance. -Bridge replaced - The nuts have been replaced with new ones made of Delrin. - There are four repaired cracks on the back of the body (two on the upper right and two on the upper left). - There are signs that a pickup was previously installed (extension of the endpin area). - The neck has been re-lacquered, possibly because the lacquer had peeled off in the past. It appears that a considerable amount of time has passed, and the wood has become well-worn. Currently, there is no stickiness, and it feels comfortable to hold. The body has its original finish. -Frets and bridge pins have also been replaced.
[Playing condition] -Due to age, there is slight sagging above the bridge on the body top plate and slight lifting below it. The string height is not so high as to interfere with playability, and there are no issues with its use. -String height at the 12th fret: 2.5mm on the 6th string side, 2.0mm on the 1st string side - The adjustable saddle allows you to adjust the string height to your preference.
