Gibson Custom Shop / 2022 1952 J-185
[Staff Comment: Hoshino]

The J-185 (16-inch), a slightly smaller version of the 1951 J-200 with its 17-inch body, is now available.
Compared to the long-scale J-200, the J-185, despite its short scale, produces a warm yet crisp and lively sound.
It’s truly a guitar that feels great to strum.
This instrument is a Custom Shop recreation of the first-year J-185.

The spruce top, characterized by its fine-grained figure, has been thermally aged to produce a crisp tone that sounds as though it has been played for years, despite being a New.
The sides and back feature beautifully figured maple.
The crown inlay on the headstock and the parallelogram inlays on the fingerboard underscore its status as a high-end model.
Among the models recreating the J-185, a unique and welcome feature of this instrument is the long saddle set on the bridge with a Maltese cross inlay.
This is one of the features that gives it a more vintage-like look.
The slim-tapered neck is easy to grip, and combined with the 16-inch body, it offers a comfortable playing experience.
If you’re looking for a modern model that’s easy to hold and produces a powerful tone, we highly recommend giving this one a try.
