This is a historic model that pioneered the history of Gibson flat-top guitars and laid the foundation for the small-body guitars that would continue to be produced for generations.

While the L-1 (whose shape was changed around 1930) and L-0, which appeared in 1926, had a so-called gourd-shaped body, this model, which appeared in 1929, was born with a body shape that was square at the bottom, similar to the later L-00.

This instrument is an extremely valuable piece that can truly be called the progenitor of Gibson's small-body guitars that would continue to be produced for generations.

One of the differences between this model and the L-0 and L-1 is the decorative elements.
In contrast to the two previous models with simple decorations, this small-bodied model adds a touch of luxury with a lily inlay on the headstock, binding on the sides of the fretboard, and gold rosette and purfling.

The back of the headstock has a "MADE IN USA" stamp and a hole can be seen in the center.
I suspect this was originally a metal ring for attaching a strap.
The SJ-200, which appeared around 1938, comes standard with a strap loop on the top of the headstock, which leads to speculation that players may have been attaching the strap loop to the back of the headstock even before this mechanism was invented.

- There is a crack repair (patch reinforcement) under the bridge on the top of the body (near the 1st string pin).
- There is a crack repair (patch reinforcement) under the bridge on the top of the body (on the side of the 6th string pin).
- There is a crack repair (glued) on the lower left of the body top.
- There is a crack repair (patch reinforcement) from the center below the soundhole to the top of the bridge.
-The entire body has been over-lacquered.
- Fret, nut, saddle, and end pin replacement
- All the fasteners that secure the lid of the included case are loose.
Also, please be aware that the central lid lock is malfunctioning.

- Saddle protrusion amount: Approximately 1.0mm to 3.0mm
